Opuntia Succulent Garden in Terra Cotta | Potted Garden
I water these plants weekly in my indoor growing environment (artificial lights, higher humidity than outside). New photos are needed as of January 13, 2018.
This planter contains a dogtail cactus, hoya carnosa rubra variegata (more yellow than in the photo and likes medium to very damp or the waxy leaves will get a little spotty), a young gasteria fuji (will become considerably bigger and clump with age), a sedum adolphii (will become muuuuch bigger with age), and a kalanchoe streptanthus.
Though I am transitioning to organic methods, I have used a synthetic pesticide in the soil (absorbed by the whole plant) that is said to last a year but is not safe for bees (or people or animals) so please take one of the following precautions if your plant flowers: 1) change the soil, 2) bring the planter indoors before and while the plant blooms, 3) cut the flower buds off if there is a chance that a bee will come in contact with them, 4) keep the planter indoors through the end of October, 2018. Thank you!
